Ak-mee Barbershop is located on the up and coming high street of Monton Road, just outside of Manchester.
Founded by Gary Stretton, we not only aim to provide the very best in service, but also pride our selves in creating an atmosphere for all clients to feel welcome and comfortable.

With Gary's background in music production, his DJ experience on Manchester's club scene and being a digital artist himself, he let that directly influence the atmosphere of the shop. With an area dedicated to music, complete with decks and sound system, music is always sure to keep the good vibes running through the shop. A monthly radio show is also hosted live from the barbershop, so keep an eye on our socials to listen in or to make sure you can book in for that day.

Ak-mee, where does the name come from? 

Ak-mee is the phonetic spelling of the word "acme".

"When trying to decide on a name for my business, I tried to envision what I wanted from my barbershop. Where did I see my barbershop in the future? I wanted my business to ultimately provide the best service and atmosphere for all clients that walk through the door.

The name of the business isn’t just a name, it's an end goal of where I see Ak-mee. The name is there to keep on striving for that standard. To be the best at what we do.

I opened up Ak-mee during a pandemic, which at first was a scary thought. Would we survive? Will people come? It's now a year later and we have managed to build up a client base and continue to grow despite the pandemic.

I can't thank all our clients enough for their continued support. Without you guys we wouldn’t be here. I promise we'll continue to strive for that end goal and in the meantime keep our service and your experience from Ak-mee the best it can be!
